I hope this gets you engaged because this is what I propose to you!

In a world where green is the new black, one man stands for an eco-friendly revolution. Will he make his idea a reality be creating one of the most massive yet environmental friendly projects? Are the mass of people on board with this project being washed green? With the odds stacked against him can he do it? Robert Congel stars in Destiny USA: a Destiny for the US of A. This sounds like a great movie; there is suspense, deception and no true outcome yet. I want to examine, chronologically the history behind Destiny USA. Starting with the brain of Bob Congel and why he feels it is necessary. Then it will stem off of an event that happened each year or so. To understand the setbacks is to understand why it has not been build. It will lead up to now 2008 where the first phase is just being started, and then I think it best to leave the audience with the option to decide what they want. It is more important to have their voice heard. So as a lens for them I will try to present all sides of the issue. Destiny USA can be one of the most influential or detrimental projects built. I hope Bob knows what he is doing.

Bob what are you doing?

I wanted to look into this man with the vision to change the world. He is non other than Syracuse native Robert Congel. One of the 400 richest people on the planet, he got his forture in real estate. He is now the owner of Destiny USA. Which after years of talk in finally underway. In 2005 the NY Times had an opinion article on the subject. Here is the link to it http://www.nytimes.com/2005/07/03/magazine/03PHENOM.html?_r=1&oref=slogin . WIthin it they analyze this idea and poke a few holes in Congel's logic. One that I thought was interesting is that though this will be a mall that conserves energy and cut on fossil fuels, will people want to come from far and wide to shop and experience the Destiny. Syracuse as a city in not well know so the Times asked where the financial logic was. That is interesting, what is the direction of the financial aspect because Congel not only wants to pick up the economy in Syracuse but also set a standard of eco-friendly living. I don't see the link Congel sees yet. This mall will take local jobs and move family businesses out in order to have a glass city within a city. I don't really get it Bob. Bob What are you doing?

Is Syracuse's Destiny Green?????

So I went to the mall the other day to buy headphones for my iPod, (Not the apple ones because there too expensive but a pair from best buy) and I saw what is to soon be Syracuses greener Destiny in Destiny USA. At first I thought to myself "A bigger mall: COOL with me". Apparently there is a bit more to it. This actually will be an eco-friendly project or so it claims to be. I don't exactly know where I stand on this because, I dont wan't to be washed green it would look something like this.

That has nothing to do with the topic, it was actually a bad joke. Seriously a major concern with the project is the idea that big business is taking over while the people of Syracuse are being run out. Destiny is going to be the Syracuse within Syracuse a place for people that is beautiful and brings customers. There is probably more to it than that but honestly that seems like the true underlying fact. In a nation where the economy needs a jumpstart the largest mall in North America doesn't sound bad and now that phase 2 is

underway here comes the hotel, but I hope I didn't see drills and other machines that use deisel because I really hate to be lied too, especially when i see corny signs on the pillar in the mall that say "oil is out".

So How about dem Apples

  • I was on youtube, because I was bored and dodging homework, I stumbled across an ad Apple did in 1984. Wow I definetely don't remember that year but I can tell things were not that different than they are today. Apple apparently still loves to show how much more alive and un zombie like the are than PC. Maybe if Youtube wasn't so un cool they would let me put the video up but here is the link. http://youtube.com/watch?v=OYecfV3ubP8 I like to think this is a bit more dramatic than the commericials for Macs we see today. There is still one common theme: Macs are better. Check out this link to see this ad which is more recent. http://youtube.com/watch?v=gvzo390Mthc&feature=related
